Methods for Selecting Vascular Resident
Policy:
The recruitment and appointment of residents into the Vascular Surgery Residency Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is based on the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The Vascular Residency Program at UAMS does not discriminate with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
Application Process:
- Applications to the Vascular Surgery Residency Program are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- Completed applications should include three letters of recommendation (one of which should be from the program director of their general surgery program indicating Board eligibility) and a statement of personal goals.
- Invitations are sent to applicants selected for interview. (Other applicants receive a thank you letter for their application.)
- During interviews, each applicant is given a copy of the Benefits and Terms & Conditions for Appointment (Employment) and asked to sign an attestation to that effect.
Eligibility:
- An applicant must be able to carry out the required duties.
- An applicant must demonstrate satisfactory English language proficiency.

- Applicants should submit applications through ERAS only, unless unavailable, and must be a participant in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
