Supervisory Lines of Responsibility

The vascular surgery resident assumes progressive responsibilities under the guidance of the attending surgical staff.  All patients are assigned to a specific vascular surgery attending who is ultimately responsible for all management.  The vascular resident is responsible for progressively acquiring the skills to evaluate the patient and develop a plan of management.  All major clinical decisions should be communicated to the vascular attending.  All procedures and operations are undertaken under the supervision of the vascular surgery faculty.  A vascular surgical attending will be on call each day, and this call schedule will available to the vascular resident.
